Welcome aboard if you’re a first time member to the Vacuum Cleaner Collector’s Club. This is a great place to share stories, collections and meet new friends. It is my pleasure to serve as the Club President. My name is Morgan Frazer and I live in Dubuque Iowa.
It was quite by accident that I became a member of this club a little over four years ago. Looking on eBay one evening I ran across a model 28 Hoover that brought back some great memories. Well I decided I should at least place a bid, I placed the bid and won. The gentleman that was selling the vacuum was the current webmaster to the VCCC and asked if I was a collector. Of course I did not think I was a collector but it would be fun to see what this club was all about. Well Charles sent me the information on how to join and told me of an upcoming convention. So the rest is history. I have now been a member for over four years and have met some of the most wonderful people as a result. Plus have been able to see and use some of the vacuums of my childhood.
This club has a very interesting history and as time goes on this year I am sure our club historian will be sharing that information with us. At this years convention which was held in St. Louis, MO I had the honor of being elected your new club president. We have had some great leaders in the past and I hope to be able to carry on that tradition.
We are looking into a new website that will allow the membership to post pictures, video clips and to make it as user friendly as possible. This should help the club attract new members and make our Vacuum Family larger. We have all seen what has happened to the vacuum industry in the past few years. Major companies being bought and sold, what used to be a lifetime appliance has become a disposable product that can be purchased just about anywhere. Hopefully we can preserve some of that history.
A little bit about your new president. I was born in a small town in southern Wisconsin called Benton (876 people to be exact). Worked for a small local owned bank, church organist, school board president as well as a local EMS volunteer. I recently accepted a position at one of Iowa’s largest credit unions where I am currently the assistant branch manager. In my collection of vacuums (some where around 40 or so) I have Royal, Hoover, Electrolux, Kirby, Eureka, Sunbeam and even a General Electric. My three favorites are the pictures you see here:
The model 508 Kirby which was my mother’s actual vacuum, it was last rebuilt in 2002.

The model 28 Hoover which was my Aunt's vacuum

The Airway 66 which was my grandmothers.

It was always a battle when my grandmother, my Aunt and mother would get together, each felt their vacuum was the best. I must say I think my mothers would have out cleaned them all.
Over the years I have had many vacuums come and go. Repaired many vacuums that people thought should just be thrown away. Vacuums that just needed a simple cleaning, bag and filter change, belt or brushes changed were the start of my collections. People were throwing them out and I would try to save them. As early as I can remember, my interest in the vacuum has been there. It was always a marvel to me that the machine as simple as it is in design could be such a work saver. The sound of the motor, the brush beating against the carpet was like music to my ears.
I hope you will find this place to be as enjoyable as I have. If you are interested in joining just click on the Want to Join link and it will give you all the details. As I mentioned earlier we do hold an Annual Convention which next year will be held in Omaha Nebraska. Watch this site or your newsletter for all the details. Members of this club will welcome you with open arms! So join in the fun and help us share our passion “THE VACUUM CLEANER”
